We have giggles!

We are finally seeing a happy girl! Last night in the tub she was playing with stacking cups and all of a sudden made a little giggle. After that it was like we had a different girl! Not only is she happier, she is eating better and seems stronger already. The first day we had her she was very wobbly and could hardly stand herself up from the floor. Last night she was practically running between the two hotel rooms and getting up and down easily. Praise God that she is doing better so soon!

We leave this evening for Guangzhou, and we will be glad to get there. We have tried hard to really enjoy our time in Amelia's province, but it will be nice not to be the only Westerners anywhere to be seen. People look at us and try to figure us out. You can tell that they kind of understand the white family with the Asian baby, but then they see Evan. . . and don't have any idea what to do with that! Our next hotel is said to have softer beds also, which will be nice. The ones here are pretty much like sleeping on the floor. We brought pool rafts to put on the beds which has helped some, but it's still not quite right. I'm off to finish packing. We leave at 2:00 to pick up Amelia's passport and then head to the airport.

  2. Sounds like things are going great!! I love the picture of your multi-cultural family and people wondering "what in the world?!?" Perfect!!

Who did you arrange your tour of the Great Wall through? We're with Holt too so I am wondering what is included in their touring and what we need to book on our own. We plan to arrive one or two days early.

Have a great rest of the trip! I've enjoyed following along!

  3. She's giggling already! It's great to hear that she's doing so well. I hope you have a safe trip to Guangzhou. We were definitely ready to get there by the end of our stay in our son's province.

  4. Love the giggles video! I am so glad Amelia is doing so well! It is such a blessing to see your family adjusting so beautifully! God is GREAT!!! And yes, crossing the streets in China is crazy! After crossing the street once in Nanchang, our guides actually got us a bus to go across the street the next day because it was so dangerous! Blessings to your family, can't wait to see your trip to GZ!

  6. So fun to see this video! Our kids really enjoyed watching it too. What a cutie Amelia is. It makes us all so anxious for our turn to travel to China and bring home our daughter (hopefully this fall!) We will continue to pray for you guys and will be anxious to hear about how your time in Guangzhou goes as that will likely be where we spend most of our time in China. Our daughter's orphange is in Guangdong province about 200 miles south of Guangzhou. :)
